Music Update!
The Music Department here at St George's College has been full of activity over August and September.
Our second Trimester ended with ES3 to Poli 3 doing some major in-class performances (A webisode to come soon!) and ES1 and ES2 exploring how to play keyboards.

Now, it is about time some photos of the very successful concert 'The Big Sing' are displayed here. I know it is a bit late (The Big Sing was in June 2011).

But the concert was so wonderful and full of incredibly talented singing. It truly showcased the hard work put in by all students and also parents and staff.
It was wonderful to have the new St Georgian Community Choir perform for the first time- Well done!
And it was excellent to share the evening with the talented students and staff from St George's North.
Very much looking forward to putting this event on again in 2012!

Drama Update
September will see the culmination of many important and exciting projects in the Drama & Theatre Arts Department.
Both ES4 and Poli 3 students are now nearing the completion of their courses. IGCSE candidates have now filmed monologues by Marivaux, Ionesco and Beckett among others for PAPER 2 of the Drama exam, producing their best work to date, and are now busy creating yet another group devised piece. Poli 3 IB candidates are now embarking on their last piece of coursework: an oral exam which amounts to an overview of their extraordinarily varied and bold work during the last two years. Below are some pictures of Poli 3 IB students acting in their final works.
The stop-motion choreographies being created by ES1 students also merit mentioning. This project, which will also involve make-up design, is shaping very nicely indeed and bodes very well for their future work.
Last, but certainly not least, Feo, this year’s Junior Play will be performed on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th of September at 8 pm in the Centenary Hall. The piece, devised by ES1 and ES2 students, takes Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling as a starting point to then explore the physical, mental and emotional changes that occur during puberty and adolescence. Truly, a play for the whole family since between the ages of 12 and 17, for example, a parent ages as much as 20 years.

Welcome to Alice Fairhall- Dancer in Residence
![]() |
| Alice Fairhall |
Alice has trained in contemporary dance since the age of 15. She was trained at the university of Chichester in the United Kingdom, receiving a BA (hons) in Dance.
Her training largely focused on choreography and explorational movement classes- technique, Limon, Graham, Cunningham, South American Capoeira.
Key elements to Alice's training include improvisation, dance history, popular dance, performance and dance movement psychotherapy.
Here at St. Georges Alice will be teaching all levels across the school using technique training as well as encouraging movement for performance.
Her work in College will be focusing on Contemporary Dance and how we use an understanding of movement to create works.
In the Prep school, her sessions are based on technical lessons and also choreographing a performance work.In Kinder , she is encouraging an awareness of the body by creating an imaginative space for the children to explore their movement.
Alice will also be incorporating Dance Movement Psychotherapy in special movement programs such as Yoga, meditation and massage sessions for boarders, teachers and anyone in the St George's community.
She believes this helps all people to find a centre and focus. Dance and movement gives everyone a very necessary break from the stresses of daily life through self exploration and renewal.
Alice says, "I believe that movement is essential to health and that dance is a fantastic medium to help with discovery of the self in the body, my work here at St George's College will look to find physical awareness, creativity and performing skills amongst the children, in a safe and fun environment."
We welcome Alice as part of our Creative Arts Team. She will be with us until July next year.
Below is an invitation to everyone for one of her special movement workshops! YOGA

Creando personajes:
